The Lisbon Stock Exchange closed in positive territory, climbing 1.29% to 5,530.67 points. Of the 19 quotes included in the main Portuguese index, 14 ended positively and five devalued.

BCP again took the lead in earnings and closed the session 5.49% higher at € 0.1709 per share, its highest since the start of the pandemic. To find a higher closing value, you need to go back to February 27, 2020.

Despite the fact that there was a slight decline yesterday, the bank, headed by Miguel Maya, has been moving up for several weeks. Since September 20, it has amounted to more than 38%, and analysts believe that this profit will continue, as will the entire banking sector, which has been one of the best indicators at the European level. Apart from BCP, all of the so-called heavyweights on the stock market had a lucky day and ended up trading profitably. Galp Energia gained 1.27%, Jerónimo Martins gained 1.49%, while Renováveis gained 1.65% against the EDP group, and the parent company’s shares were up 0.49% by the end of the day.

The optimism of Portuguese investors extends to the rest of Europe, which ended in green. The major indices of all countries showed gains, and the Stoxx 600, which brings together the largest European companies, closed up 1.60%, driven by the automotive and natural resources sectors.
