Battlefield 2042 will no longer have major content updates

The news was provided by Ryan MacArthur, Senior Producer, and Lars Gustavsson, Creative Director of the game, both saying that Hazard Zone, the game’s battle royale mode, will not be receiving new content.

The announcement was made on the Battlefield Briefing blog, where it was clarified that the Hazard Zone is a way to restore community trust after the game’s dismal launch last year, and that the focus will now be on providing support for standard multiplayer and modes. Portal with retro maps.

In the release, the development team wrote:

And the last news that you can take away from today’s video is that we are completing further development of Hazard Zone. All of us on the team had high ambitions and high hopes for this new experience throughout development, but we were the first to raise our hands and admit that [ela] haven’t found the right place in Battlefield 2042, and that you’ll greatly benefit by allowing our attention and energy to stay on the path we think the community is most attracted to.

And, despite the lack of new content, Hazard Zone will not be excluded from the game:

The Danger Zone will remain part of the experience, we won’t be deactivating it, but apart from fixing critical bugs and strange behavior that may appear in the future, we will no longer be actively developing new features or content for the mode.

Battlefield 2042 is available for PC Xbox OneXbox Series X, PS4 and PS5
