Manchester City unveiled a monument to Sergio Aguero on Friday. This tribute comes ten years after Agüero’s memorable 90+4 goal against QPR that sealed Manchester City’s 2011/12 Premier League victory, 44 years after their last title.
The statue of Aguero, located on the east side of the Etihad Stadium, was created by renowned sculptor Andy Scott, similar to what he has already done for Kompany and David Silva.
It turns out that an assessment of the statue and how the figure is very similar to the German Toni Kroos from Real Madrid quickly spread on social networks.
The German joined the joke and even reacted on Twitter to the publication of a BBC journalist: Simon Stone posted a photo of Aguero’s statue with the caption “Sergio is here.” Kroos challenged: “Are you sure?”
There are several parallel montages of the statue and Kroos with the same facial expression, and the similarities are really hard to ignore.
