Richarlison scored two goals for Brazil in a victory over Serbia in the first round of Group G of the World Cup. After the game, the striker became emotional, remembering the injury he received while playing for Tottenham, because of which he risked getting to the World Cup.
“A few weeks ago I was crying… The day I went to the medical examinations was one of the hardest for me. One of the longest days of my life. I remember that it was a day off, I was nervous, waiting for the results of the tests, and time was running out. It was worth every effort to recover. God has seen all my efforts, my desire to represent Brazil in the World Cup,” he began in a statement to Globo.
The 25-year-old spoke about “making a childhood dream come true” and praised the team’s performance.
“We showed a good game, especially in the second half. We are very happy. Now we must continue. Winning the first game was very important. We need to rest and think about the second game,” he said.
