Goetze has a say. PSV, the club that owns the 29-year-old German’s pass that Roger Schmidt has signaled to boost the red team, have changed their minds about the player’s consistency with the Dutch club for the 2022/2023 season.

Whereas until now the public statements of the leaders of the Eindhoven emblem indicated that Mario Götze had said nothing about the possibility of leaving, then the technical director John de Jong changed the tone of statements regarding the German International. “He is open to adventure. So we’ll wait and see,” he said in an interview with the NOS TV channel.

The same John de Jong recently stressed, just a few days after the closing of the Dutch championship, that Gotze “did not make it clear that he wanted to leave.” The approach is now completely different, indicating that there have been events in the negotiation process that could lead to the player exchanging Eindhoven for Lisbon.

Ultimately, the player will have to decide their future. He has one more year on his contract with PSV Eindhoven and the badge indicated an extension was possible. Gotze has a rather low release clause, less than 4 million euros. However, what could be a hurdle is the salary as he earns around 3 million euros in Eindhoven.
