BALL – Pogakar almost lost his yellow card, but ended up securing it (Return to France)

This Sunday Ben O’Connor (AG2R) won the ninth stage of the Tour de France, another stage on the mountain (144.9 km between Cluses and Tignes) and practically wore a yellow jersey when it was seven kilometers to the finish line, but leader Tadei Pogakar (Emirates of the United Arab Emirates) returned to demonstrate his strength and attacked the pursuing group 1.5 km from the end, responding to the movements of Richard Carapaz, and reached O’Connor’s 6m02, saving time for all competitions.

This stage was also marked by the absence of the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix), who retired a day after losing the lead to the Slovenian.

O’Connor won the first maximum at Tignes in 4: 26.43 hours – ahead of two runaways, Italian Mattia Cattaneo (Deceuninck-Quick Step), second at 05.07 minutes, and Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain Victorious), third at 05.34 – and climbed to second overall 2 min. 01 minutes Overall, Colombian Rigoberto Uranus (EF Education-Nippo) finished third with a result of 18.05.

Ruben Guerreiro (Education-First) had a great day and finished 12th at 6:47, moving up another 21st to 25th at 36:57. Rui Costa (Emirates) worked hard for Pogakar and finished 37th, 17:49 behind O’Connor. Overall, he moved up 30 positions to 81st with a score of 1: 15.35.

On Monday, the peloton is on hiatus, and on Tuesday he returns to the track to complete the 190.7 km trail between Albertville and Valencia.
