Portuguese League President Pedro Proenza, together with the Organization’s Executive Directorate and the new Security Director, met yesterday with Interior Minister Isabel Oneto and the Minister of Youth and Sports. Joao Paulo Correia.
After the first meeting on May 17 and the subsequent creation of a working group to discuss issues related to violence in professional football, yesterday’s meeting arose because this topic is at the forefront of priorities and concerns. League and government in the new season is about to begin.
“Among other things, the League of Portugal, aware of this scourge of sport both nationally and internationally, presented to the secretaries of state the progress on several points considered at the first meeting, including Stadium Safety Rules, initiatives aimed at ensuring greater procedural speed in matters related to violence, racism, xenophobia and discrimination,” the body chaired by Pedro Proens explained in a statement.
