On Saturday with Santa Clara, the boy that Sporting hired from Estoril in the middle of the 2017/2018 season and whose most of the way he did in Ericeirense, will reach his 100th match with a lion on his chest, in the sum of all competitions. A very important number indeed, all the more so for a player who came softly to Sporting but who tiptoed up the stages in the lion emblem until he proved to be obsessive not only in the Lions first team, but also earning himself a place in the national team Portugal.

For the first team of Sporting, Matheus Nunez played 10 games in the 2019/2020 season, 39 in the 2020/2021 season (he scored 3 goals and made 3 assists) and 50 games in the 2021/2022 season (4 goals and 5 assists). That’s 99 in total, so Saturday’s clash with the Azores could be remarkable for a player of all levels, as in addition to reaching 100 matches, the game could also be a farewell game, knowing that Matheus Nunez has some important European clubs interested in signing him.

So his departure at the end of the season is quite open, but there are a few very important aspects to keep in mind.
