Sporting are still determined to win the youth title and this Sunday afternoon they took another step towards that goal by beating Rio Ave 5-0 in the 6th round of the qualifying round of the championship, which took place at the stadium Aureliu Pereira. , at the Alcoshete Academy.

Afonso Moreira took advantage of an incomplete save by Andre Maia in the 29th minute from a Manuel Mendonza strike from mid-range to open the scoring, leaving Vivaldo Semedo with a 38th-minute header from a cross to Pedro Sanchi’s right to sign a 2-0 score that was registered at half-time.

In the extra stage, the same Vivaldo Semedo will score again in the 60th minute, timely reflecting a cross from Rodrigo Diaz from the left. The rout gained momentum in the 79th minute when Pedro Sanca was already in the box and, after an assist by Guilherme Santos, extended it to 4-0. The scores were closed towards the end of the match when Alexandre Brito hit hard and crossed in the 5–0 final.

With this triumph, Sporting win their sixth victory in a row (18 points) and further strengthen their claim to the title. The Lions have a six-point advantage over Braga, who are in 2nd place in the standings. As for Rio Ave, they keep the 7 points with which they entered this round.

In the next round, Sporting will go to Belenenses (Saturday, 17:00), and Rio Ave will host Benfica (Sunday, 11:00).
