Paulo Sousa left for Brazil this Thursday night, where he will lead Flamengo, the club with which he has signed a two-season contract.

Speaking to reporters at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport, the 51-year-old coach “enthusiastically introduced the Flamengo greatness club”, promising “a lot of work, a lot of dedication, a lot of humility, and a desire to win.”

He was also asked about Jorge Jesús, a great success coach at Flamengo. “All the Portuguese coaches have done a good job everywhere, we have a lot of quality, but the pressure and responsibility are constant in a club with the greatness of Flamengo. We want to continue the path of victories. [Jorge Jesus] This is not a ghost. He is a very good coach, he showed this throughout his career. He has always demonstrated his qualities and his passion, just as I will try to express mine, ”he said.

Paulo Sousa also spoke about the controversial termination of the contract with the Polish Federation. “I’ve always been very focused on my decisions. I don’t want to think about the past, I’m very proud of what I did. Poland was the team that scored the most goals in the World Cup qualification, I dedicated myself from the first to the last day. From the moment I made the decision to embrace the project with the greatness of Flamengo, I think about this, not in the past, ”he said.
