At the age of 22, Florentino Luis returns home after two loans that he guarantees have made him more mature. He wants to show off, impress Schmidt, and get the go-ahead. In this interview, he talks about a career that may already seem long, but is just beginning. He talks about the dreams he has already achieved and those he still hopes to achieve.

– Do you have a guarantee that you will be in the pre-season at Benfica, will this be a pillar for next season? What are your expectations for the near future?
– My expectation is very clear: to do my best for Benfica, as I have done all these years. And I will do everything to secure a place for myself, because this is my goal. To do this, I must show the value that I have.

– What did they tell you? Is it worth it to stay in the squad this season?
– In this aspect, I believe that everything will still be open. There are factors that are out of my control… At this point I know that I have been selected for the pre-season and this is where I have to give back and I will do my best to have a better future.

– What do you know about the new coach Roger Schmidt?
– This is a new cycle, there were no foreign coaches in Benfica for some time. We Benfica fans have become accustomed in recent years to Portuguese coaches who work in a similar way to what we are accustomed to. Now a German coach will arrive and will definitely bring good ideas. Everyone knows the German coaching school, it’s very, very good. My curiosity, I think, will be the curiosity of all Benfica fans to see and understand how the team will play, but for sure we will show very attractive football.
