The first question to national coach Fernando Santos at the press conference before the game against Spain scheduled for this Thursday in Seville was about the controversy surrounding Diogo Costa and Otavio, two Portuguese internationals who are concentrated in the group but under FPF CD disciplinary control (for example, Manafa and Fabio Cardoso) because of the insults inflicted on Benfica during the celebration of the victory of the national title of FC Porto.

Fernando Santos was asked in particular about Otavio, how he classifies the attitude of the Porto midfielder and whether he spoke to the player about what happened.

After a big smile and sending a few congratulations, including to Roma José Mourinho, Sergio Oliveira and Rui Patricio on winning the Conference League, the national coach responded like this.

“John already answered [o médio tinha dito que na Seleção não há clubes]I don’t think I should answer anymore. I see, and I’ve been here since 2014, I never had a moment to feel the clubs inside. Never. So, the answer is given. The environment is the same as it has always been and will be,” he stressed.

And faced with persistence, it was understandable to close the topic: “The answer is given, I won’t answer anymore, I apologize.”
