The Jordanian Federation has asked the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to open an investigation to verify the gender of Iran’s goalkeeper Zohre Qudayi, prompting suspicions that he is a man and not a woman, following an important game between the two women’s teams on September 25 in Tehran.

Iran eventually beat Jordan on penalties (4: 2) thanks to two saves by Zohra Koudai and qualified for the first women’s Asian Cup, scheduled for 2022.

Because of this mistrust, Jordanian Federation President Prince Ali Ben al-Hussein recently posted a November 5 letter on Twitter, “requiring gender confirmation” by Koudai.

According to Ali Bem al-Hussein, who raises many “doubts about the player’s suitability,” “Iran has a long history in matters of gender and doping.”

For her part, Iranian elector Maryam Irandust believes that the accusations are nothing more than a “pretext for aversion to defeat” and was ready to “provide all the documentation required by the AFC.”

The player in question has also already responded to the accusation, claims to be a victim of bullying and promises to sue the Jordan Federation.
