Roger Schmidt previewed Estoril in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup on Tuesday. Benfica face the Canaries again after a 5-1 win last Sunday in what is considered the 12th round of the League.

“It’s a completely different game. Now that we know each other, we can use Sunday’s game to prepare for tomorrow’s game. We know Estoril are a great team. We want to show the same direction. We have every chance to win the game,” he began.

The coach was asked about being seen as a Benfica fan idol, considering it important to keep the fans happy but warning that nothing has been won: “We are still at the beginning of the season, I know we are in a good moment, but we must continue in the same vein, trying to develop and improve the team, be humble. If we continue like this, we will have more chances to win matches and titles. I’m glad the fans are happy. It’s very good for us to have fans and feel like we’re doing our best. Happy fans are a big motivation for us.”

Roger Schmidt also addressed the happiness shown by the players: “I think it’s very important to be happy not only in football but also in life. When we have victories and goals, of course, it’s better. Happiness in itself doesn’t matter, but it does. Now it is important to stay focused on the competition, and in between games, the athletes continue to keep themselves at a good level. Winning and scoring helps us to be happy in general.”
