The Portuguese Cup draw determined that Sporting and Porto would meet in the semifinals. This will be the 10th time that the two rivals decide to reach the final of the Queen’s Contest.
And if you look at past matches, the history favors Porto, but not by a wide margin. In the previous nine times Sporting had come out four times against five Dragons.
The first duel took place in the 1951/52 season, when the Lisbonians won in a tie-break. After the defeat (0-2) on the dragon, Randolph Galloway’s team won in Alwalada (4-2) and in the tie-break (5-2).
The latter, in 2017/18, was also lion-friendly and already had Sergio Conceição on the bench. After losing at Porto (0: 1), Jorge Jesus’ side won at home (1: 0) and were stronger on penalties (5: 4), reaching one of the most fateful finals for the Greens. and white – defeat from Avesh (1-2), a week after the attack on Academy Alcochete.
