Fabinho, the Brazilian international who together with Leonardo Jardim became Monaco champions, underlined the influence of the Portuguese coach on his football career. However, there was another manager who armed him with the versatility that characterizes the Liverpool player today.

“In a better team, you can’t always play in your position. To play, you need to find a place. I went to Paulinia to play as a midfielder, I liked the position and ended up staying. Only at the age of 16 other guys began to look up to me in strength and speed. It was then that a man appeared in my life to whom I owe a lot: Elio Sizenando, ”he explained in statements to UOL.

“He taught me that I need to be smart, to play in more than one position, I need to be versatile. So when the team had a good full back, I played in midfield; when I was a good midfielder, I was a winger. It was Elio, long before Leonardo Jardim, who taught me how to play both positions,” he added.

Once called up to play as a winger for Brazil, Fabinho is now a key player in Canariña’s midfield: “Leonardo Jardim changed my life at Monaco, but it was thanks to Hélio that I was ready to stop being a winger – on the right, a position in which I was already called up to the national team.” and start again as a midfielder.”
