Pedro Ribeiro, Portuguese hacker, international champion., will talk at the PME + Digital event about the dangers that small and medium-sized companies face at a time when computer attacks are part of everyday business. The initiative is hosted by Konica Minolta on October 18 and will be broadcast on LinkedIn company.

Cyber attacks are not limited to large companies, which can put SMEs in a vulnerable position if they do not take preventive and digital security measures. This is a starting point for a multi-expert exchange on cybersecurity issues and the importance of the digital transition for small and medium enterprises.

Cyber attacks in Portugal increased by 81 percent in 2021 (Check Point Research, 2021), highlighting the importance of SMEs (99 percent of the Portuguese business community) being vigilant and taking preventive measures.

European research shows the importance that entrepreneurs place on the digital transformation of their business: 53% of companies believe they have made some progress in digital transformation, but there is still more to be done (European Digital Transformation Analysis prepared for KMBS Europe 2021) e 30% of companies say one of the biggest challenges in IT is keeping up with new technologies (European Digital Transformation Analysis prepared for KMBS Europe, country: Portugal, November 2021).

Cybersecurity is the central theme of SME+Digital, but it won’t be the only one. Demystifying digital transformation processes, which are also available to SMEs and not just large companies, is another important challenge.

“SMEs face significant challenges for their future and we believe this is a historic opportunity to share information and create value-added solutions for the digital transformation of national companies.”

Vasco Falcao, CEO of Konica Minolta Portugal & Spain.

At the round table “SMEs and digital transformation: how far can we go by dispelling the myths?” Anabela Almeida, Director of the MA in Healthcare Management and Research Fellow at NECE – Business Science Research Unit (University of Beira Interior); Luis Antunes, Director of the Cyber Security and Privacy Competence Center of the University of Porto; Miguel Gomes, Administrator of Nasamotor, and Pedro Monteiro, Deputy Managing Director of Konica Minolta.
