AUTOVOUCHER. Ten Questions and Answers About Fuel Discounts – Taxes

Published

on

Approximately 3,800 gas stations across the country are contacted through industry associations to join the IVAucher platform, allowing those who fill them up to receive a monthly discount. Those who join will have an identification stamp. From November 10, replenishment of the deposit entitles you to a monthly discount. Find out what this discount is and what you need to do to take advantage of it:

1. What is the discount on the table and how long will it last?

Every taxpayer will be eligible for a discount of ten cents per liter of fuel up to 50 liters per month. Bills are five euros per month from November 2021 to March 2022. The discount applies to diesel and gasoline, and consumption made from November 10th may be included.

2. How can taxpayers get a discount?

The government decided to use the platform created this year for the IVAucher program. Therefore, in order to receive a refund, taxpayers must register on the platform by associating with their tax identification number the number of bank cards they use in their purchases. Those who are already registered – about 900 thousand taxpayers – will no longer need to do anything, but only receive information about the new use of the platform for the purposes of applying the data protection law. Those who are not registered must do so from November 1st.

3. How will the discount be applied?

At the time of filling out, the taxpayer will have to pay using a bank card that is associated with his tax identification number on the IVAucher platform. From there, the tax authorities find out that there was consumption and apply a discount. The taxpayer pays and within two days receives the refund amount to his bank account.

4. Is the discount offered only once or is it based on consumption?

The monthly discount will be valid from the moment of the first refueling of the month. It is paid immediately in full, even if the first consumption is not 50 liters.

5. What if in a month the taxpayer has no consumption?

In this case, the value of that month is accumulated for the next month, and as soon as delivery has been made, the full amount for two months will be refunded.

6. Does the discount apply to every family or every income taxpayer?

As explained by the Secretary of State for Tax Affairs, the discount can be used by any taxpayer who has an ATM card associated with his taxpayer identification number.

7. Will there be a mandatory minimum flow rate?

This skewer is still under consideration as petrol stations have different mandatory minimum consumption values.

8. Is it obligatory to request an invoice with TIN?

“While it is desirable, it is not necessary,” explained Antonio Mendonça Mendes. In this case, the tax authorities know that the taxpayer incurred fuel consumption because he paid with an ATM card that is associated with his taxpayer number.

nine. And who is not registered on the IVAucher platform because they have difficulties accessing the Internet?

There is no alternative, so the only way is to register the taxpayer with IVAucher.

ten. Do petrol stations also have to register on the IVAucher platform?

Yes, the petrol station will also need to register on the IVAucher platform. Those who do so will have a stamp that they can supply, thereby showing customers that they can deliver the item and be eligible for a refund. Mendonça Mendes explained that the government, through representative associations of the sector, is in contact with approximately 3,800 positions are registered with the National Energy Sector (ENSE). However, adhesion will depend on the choice of each.
