“We will keep a close eye on the market like we do everything else” and it is still being assessed whether ASAE will return to the “field” to track the evolution of fuel prices,” Pedro Portugal Gaspar told Antena 1 and Journal de Negocios .

Mentioning that these “400 complaints are being analyzed,” the ASAE spokesman said there were “some fluctuations” in prices as a result of two price monitoring activities conducted over eight days at 71 gas stations in the country.

In terms of food, the inspector general said the ASAE is monitoring the impact of inflation on prices, given that while increases of 20% and 30% have been found, this cannot be speculation.

“In this matter, a margin of 20% or 30% would not, in my opinion, meet the requirements that are considered speculative practice, given that in fact there are also several elements of price increase in the chain upstream that this same fluctuation can justify. “, – he said.

Earlier this month, the ASAE announced that it had found only one instance of alleged non-compliance in the application of the Petroleum Product Tax (ISP) reduction at the gas stations it controlled.

This monitoring at the national level of filling stations was aimed at verifying the implementation of a new measure to reduce fuel prices as a result of the reduction in ISP.

This action “was intended to test price fluctuations per liter compared to previous periods, in particular to assess the impact of lowering the ISP on the final price for the consumer,” the agency explained.
