As promised, Apple is launching a new version of iOS. After 3 rounds of beta improvements, the company shipped last week RC version and now iOS 14.6 is available to everyone.

One of the great news is the launch of podcast subscriptions for selected channels and programs. But that’s not all!

In addition to subscribing to individual podcast feeds, this update introduces minor changes to how security tags work. In addition, it also adds something interesting to the accessibility group. It's time to update the iPhone operating system.

Podcasts

  • Support for subscriptions to selected programs and channels.

AirTag and Find

  • Lost mode option to add an email address instead of a phone number for AirTags and accessories from the search network.
  • Visualization of the owner's partially hidden phone number when the AirTag is touched with an NFC-compatible device.

Availability

  • Voice control users can unlock their iPhone for the first time after restarting the device with just voice.

This update also fixes the following issues:

  • After using iPhone lock on Apple Watch, you may not be able to unlock with Apple Watch.
  • Reminders can be displayed as blank lines.
  • Call blocking extensions may not appear in settings.
  • Bluetooth devices may sometimes end a call or send audio to another device during an active call.
  • The iPhone may have had a degraded performance level during startup.

Shazam App Clip

There are other novelties, for example, in Shazam. This service, it was acquired from Apple in 2017, last year it was fully integrated into iPhones and iPads running iOS 14.2.

According we saw at that timeSince then, the service has a new button for identifying songs directly from the Control Center. Now with iOS 14.6, Apple has extended this integration and turned it into an app clip with song information.

The process of identifying songs using Shazam remains the same. All the user has to do is go to the Control Center and tap the Shazam icon. Now instead of getting a notification that redirects you to the website. Inside, the user will see detailed information about the song through the Shazam clip app.

In addition to this operating system, Apple has also updated iPadOS 14.6, watchOS 7.5, tvOS 14.6, macOS Big Sur 11.5, and HomePod 14.6.
