Taking advantage of the recent arrival Share this to Apple operating systems, developer Geordie Bruin released today Navi, an application capable of translating conversations and creating subtitles in real time while talking on Facetime

According to Bruin, the new product is aimed at people suffering from hearing impairment or any other disabilities that prevent them from making a video call through the Apple service. However, Navi can also be very useful, for example, for making calls between people who do not speak the same language.

To use the app, simply start a FaceTime call with someone, open Navi, and invite the other person to the app, who in turn will receive a notification via SharePlay. From there, the user will be able to activate both subtitles and real-time translation at any time. It is also possible to change the desired language during a conversation.

The app can translate conversations into 20 different languages, including Portuguese (from Brazil and Portugal), Polish, Turkish, Thai, Ukrainian, German (from Austria), French (from Switzerland, France and Canada), Finnish, Vietnamese. , Italian, Swedish, German, Japanese, Spanish (from Mexico and Spain), Norwegian, Danish, Croatian, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Dutch, English (from Canada, South Africa, the Philippines and the United Kingdom) and Arabic (from Saudi Arabia).

It is also worth noting that all subtitles and translations produced by Navi are end-to-end encrypted by Apple’s servers, which gives the service an extra layer of privacy.

navi available for free on the App Store before the end of the year for iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Starting in 2022, the service will offer up to five free calls for people to test the service, and then it will charge a fee (different prices depending on their needs).
