Rui Pedro, one of the Voice of Portugal members, was denied the opportunity to attend the first live gala due to a positive test for Covid-19.
Vasco Palmeirim announced at the Voice of Portugal gala that one of the participants had tested positive for Covid-19. Rui Pedro of Team Aurea was forced to miss the first live show, but staging a talent show found a way to keep the competitor in the competition.
“Here’s a quick announcement before we move on to the next talk. All participants were tested last Thursday and all tested negative before rehearsal.“, – began the story of Vasco Palmeirim.
“Unfortunately, yesterday Rui Pedro, the nominee from Team Aurea, tested positive and this obviously prevents Rui from being here today with us for this first gala and despite this setback Rui will continue to compete. And for the rating, the images of the dress rehearsal you did last Thursday will count … counts as acting.“, – added the TV presenter.
After showing photos from the dress rehearsal, the participant appeared on the big screen via a video call.

Mentor Aurea on the left praised the producer of the RTP1 talent contest: “My heart sank when I heard that Rui had tested positive and a whirlwind of thoughts arose in my head. It would be very unfair if he left the competition in this way, this is a failure that we must count on today, we must have alternatives.“.
After a public vote, Rui Pedro guaranteed continuity in the Voice by receiving the most votes.
