Mfunka Muzemba announced the formation of the Hope Party a week after resigning from his membership in the National Union for the Complete Independence of Angola (UNITA).

The politician says that the goal of the new political project is to save the “Angolan dream”, which the historical parties “postponed” after 45 years of independence and 19 years of peace.

<< We have witnessed across the country and clearly demonstrate the growing desire of Angolans to see the implementation of changes that can lead to the well-being of all. It is a feeling that cannot be postponed and that requires a proportionate and urgent response, "Muzemba said this Thursday (24.06) during a press conference on the presentation of the party in Luanda.

Muzemba was dismissed from his post as general secretary of JURA, UNITA’s youth arm, eight years ago on suspicion of corruption, although he denies all charges.

With the Hope Party, the 39-year-old politician promises a center-left “solution” that “meets the wishes of society.” Muzemba wants a “more prosperous Angola” with equal rights and opportunities.

“This is the reason why we are here, young people from the new Angola, aware of our responsibility,” he said. “Esperança is a party committed to the youth, the elderly, our children, for the sustainable development of the country.”

Mfunka Muzemba rejects the possibility of integrating the Patriotic Front, which consists of several opposition forces, UNITA, PRA-JA Servir Angola and the Democratic Bloc. Muzemba says the party’s legalization process was filed with Angola’s Constitutional Court on Thursday.
