An extraordinary concert reconciled me with the Portuguese audience in Luxembourg, who sang and jumped like there was no tomorrow.

Four great Portuguese musicians performed on stage in Oberkorn, Differdange, at Deafest. A festival that will go down in history for bringing together for the first time Luis Represas of Trovante, Rui Pregal da Cunha of Erois do Mar, Tose Santos of Perfume and Carlos Moises of Quinta do Bill.

The audience, jumping to the sound of Quinta do Bill songs, ended the concert with a bang. But the enthusiasm was already felt at the very beginning of the performance of Luis Represas, who made the audience sing his songs. A passion that grew when Rui Pregal da Cunha and Toze Santos took the stage. The concert dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Radio Latina was the best.

This was the debut of Rui Pregala da Cunha in Luxembourg. “Marine heroes have never played in the circle of nostalgia,” he said in an interview with ShowCase on Rádio Latina. But it’s nice to feel “the love of the Portuguese living outside of Portugal for their music”.

In the end, I had the opportunity to talk with Luis Represas, who took a special look at the new Portuguese emigration. A wave of new migrants joining previous generations is already being felt in the concert halls. Because they know and sing songs. Because they have a different relationship with the territories in which they live, and a different relationship, which was felt last night in the explosion of joy experienced at Deafest.
