Senator Lacier Martins (Podemos), a preliminary candidate for the Federal Senate next year, has strengthened his base to guarantee a new term in 2022. In the next elections, the state will have only one seat available, which is currently occupied by the journalist Himself – first elected in 2014. The senator was interviewed by Radio CDN on Monday. Lassier spoke of bills pending in the Senate; search for a new mandate; and by order of the Federal Supreme Court (VFS), which it defined as an ideological and political court.
IMMEDIACY
This bill, which amends the Administrative Offenses Act, is considered one of the main laws to protect public money from illegal activities, is pending in the Senate and this Wednesday could have an important impact on the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) and on that same plenary session of the House of Representatives. After a commission of lawyers worked for several months to improve the law, it was submitted to the Chamber of Deputies, where it was amended and approved by legislators, and then transferred to the Senate.
During the month, dispatchers record 16.7 thousand traffic violations.
According to Lasier Martins, the project arrived in a modified form:
– I call it the law of impunity or the law of permissiveness. This is one of the most important laws in Brazil as it deals with the protection of public money and concerns money managers (president, ministers, mayors, state directors, and others). The Senate has passed legislation that frees the general public and those who want opportunities in government, in addition to opening doors to corruption.
One of the major changes foreseen in the text is to punish only government agents who show intent with the intent to harm government administration. Currently, the law considers an administrative violation “any act or omission, willful or guilty (…)”.
The senator said that these days before the CCJ vote, he and other senators will work to stop the approval of the draft as such.
SENATE
Next year, Lasier Martins wants to move to a second term. So far, even if it has not been officially done, several names are being viewed as contenders for the only Senate seat in question. Among them is Senator Podemos himself. As proof that he will be strong in the next election, the senator recalls the 2014 campaign when he faced seven other names, including strong rivals Pedro Simon (MDB) and Olivio Dutra (PT), and won the polls.
– I have courage, desire and confidence. Gradually, I am running a pre-campaign. I am confident that I will be re-elected to complete the work that I did in the Senate.
SUPREME
The Senator from Rio Grande do Sul did not regret criticizing the Supreme Court, which, in his opinion, behaved inadequately. According to Lasier, STF is no longer “a respected court, a veritable trench for democracy, impartiality and impartiality.” According to him, on the contrary, since the Verkhovna Rada “was an ideological and political court, which is placed by the presidents of the republic in accordance with their convenience, interests and ideological proximity.”

Even harsher in the position of some ministers, Lazier stressed that out of 11 STF members, at least seven have clearly ideological and socialist positions, and that anyone who criticizes the Supreme Court has been arrested.
In an attempt to change STF candidacies, the senator filed a draft in 2015 that would change: First, ministers are appointed on a triple list, formed by a commission of lawyers, and sent to the president. who chooses one of three names, and this is judged by the Senate; the second is the one that ends the term of office and that the minister remains in office for 10 years. The project is at the CCJ, where Lasier said it will pressure the college president, Senator Davi Alcolumbre (DEM), to submit a proposal.
