The Brazilian team landed yesterday (12) in Brasilia without any high-ranking political representative. When Rogerio Caboclo was removed from the presidency over accusations of sexual and moral harassment, the team arrives at the America’s Cup without a top hat and head of delegation.

It’s a rarity on national team trips. It is accepted that the manager is always invited to accompany the group on both international and national trips. Those elected are usually the presidents of federations, clubs or even CBF representatives. None of them are present in Brasilia yet.

At the same time, at least in the segment where the team is in the federal capital, the maximum representative of the group is Juninho Paulista, a former player and election coordinator. For example, it will be he who will receive politicians to meetings of a political nature, which usually take place in concentration centers.

The current president is Colonel Nunez, who is not on the team in Brasilia. It is possible that the players will receive a manager’s visit after the first game, when they are already concentrated again in Teresopolis, in Granha Komari, which will become the team’s base during this competition.

Due to the pandemic, Conmebol allowed teams to disregard check-in protocol in the host city and still arrive at the match venue in one day. Without Caboclo, the South American organization has appointed CBF vice-runner Fernando Sarni as one of the organizers of the competition.
