Altri is ranked first in the world for sustainable development in the pulp and paper sector. The ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) rating of the Portuguese listed company under the leadership of Jose de Pina has been upgraded to ‘low risk’ from the previous level of ‘medium risk’, making the company one of the top ten in the world.

Altri received 19.3 points in the ESG risk rating from Sustainalytics. It posted a 5.9 point improvement in one year, thanks in large part to a jump in the rankings for management commitment to ESG risk response, which improved by 14.1 points.

“Altri is committed to sustainability by working every day to implement measures to respond to the risks posed by ESG,” CEO José de Pina said in a statement. Staying below the 20-point threshold, the result allows the company to be considered a low ESG risk company for investors and places it in the top ten in the world for the pulp and paper sector.

Sustainalytics was ranked 15th in the paper and forestry cluster (with 81 global companies). If we consider only a fraction of the global companies that make up the Paper & Pulp cluster, it ranks 10th. In addition to this rating, Altri was recently awarded an A rating by the CDP. This is a one-of-a-kind rating given to a Portuguese pulp and paper company.
