From January 1, 2022, all invoices issued by sellers and service providers will be required to have a QR code. The purpose of this element is to help taxpayers communicate the content of their invoices to the tax authorities.

It should be recalled that this measure was created in 2019, along with two others: the application of a single document code (the so-called ACTUD) and the transfer of a series of invoices to financiers.

QR code makes it easy to send an invoice

After the disapproval of the state budget for 2022, the mandatory inclusion of the QR code in all invoices and tax documents from January 1, 2022 remains. This measure was created in 2019 along with a unique document code (the so-called ACTUD) and the transmission of a series of invoices for the finance department.

According to Jornal de Negotsios, these two averages have been carried over to 2023. As a reminder, tax incentives were created for companies in 2021. According to the publication, there have been several companies that have made progress, but now, in 2022, this is becoming a must.

As mentioned, the idea behind the QR code is to make it easier for taxpayers to voluntarily comply, for example with the e-fatura app. It should be noted that currently, if there is a QR code on the invoice, it can already be reported to the tax authorities. However, the invoice must have a TIN and it will remain for 2022. The system will work in full only if the invoices come with ATCUD...

ATCUD is in the format "ATCUD: CodigodeValidação-SequentialNumber" and its readability must be guaranteed, regardless of the medium on which it is presented to the customer, by manufacturers and users of billing and other electronic invoicing software and authorized printers. ...
