It was announced that the Prosecutor’s Office (MP) had accused the former socialist councilor in the Barcelos House Domingos Pereira of corruption, allegedly receiving 10,000 euros in exchange for a guarantee of employment in the municipality.

In a note posted on its website, the Porto Attorney General’s Office states that Domingos Pereira is charged with the crime of passive corruption against an aggravated political official.

The prosecutor’s office considered that the defendant was acting as an advisor to the municipality of Barcelos (Braga district) on a non-permanent basis, being responsible, inter alia, for making decisions on all matters related to management and management of the human resources assigned to the municipal services.

He also pointed out that on 25 January 2016, a woman, also accused in the trial, was looking for Domingos Pereira in his office, in the premises of the Chamber of Barcelos, telling him that she needed her son, who worked in the municipality. within the framework of an employment and employment contract, at the end of such a contract, they were in the service of the municipality.

He then handed over 10,000 euros to the advisor in an envelope in banknotes “as compensation for his efforts in this regard.”

On the part of the prosecutor’s office, the defendant “for this purpose accepted the indicated amount and appropriated it for himself.”

However, the recruitment was never carried out, since the President of the Chamber, Miguel Costa Gomes, by his order dated May 6, 2016, redistributed the functions and removed the powers entrusted to the defendant.

However, Domingos Pereira joined the PS and founded the independent movement Barcelos, Terras de Futuro (BTF), with which he competed in the last city councils as an elected councilor.

In this year’s municipal councils, BTF will compete in alliance with PSD and CDS-PP.

Lusa tried to listen to Domingos Pereira, but it still failed.
