Renault is aiming to bring back the latest 4L, a simple and cheap model aimed at families with limited resources, for use in cities and on the road. But that didn’t stop him from serving farmers and hunters for years, who traveled on dirt roads and less suitable terrain, as if it were a jeep for the poor.

After restoring the 4L’s ability to fly on roads in less well-maintained repairs, Renault decided to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 4L with the Air4. Basically, a Renault 4 four-engine drone on a four-screw frame.

To design this flying Air4 prototype, Renault teamed up with The Arsenale, which used its engineers using artificial intelligence to optimize the vehicle. The batteries that power the drone have a capacity of 90 amps (close to the 94 Ah of the BMW i3), with Renault not revealing all of the cells to determine the total capacity as it does not mention system voltage. However, if you’re using the same 400V as the Renault Zoe, the Air4’s battery should provide just under 40 kWh.

The Air4 guarantees a speed of 26 meters per second, which is about 93.6 km / h. In other words, it is close to the maximum speed of the original Renault 4. The new Air4 can still fly at an altitude of 700 meters at a speed of 14 m / s (50 km / h). h) thanks to a thrust of 95 kg per person. propeller, making it possible to lift only 380 kg.

Despite the curiosity generated around the Air4, it remains to be seen details of the future 4Ever, the electric vehicle Renault will hit the market in 2025. The Renault 4’s successor will be engineered on the same specific electric vehicle platform that will also be used. from Mégane 100% battery, or future R5.
