Candidates and supporters are increasingly using social media as a tool to communicate and connect with voters. But, at the same time, social media, if misused, eventually becomes a mechanism that can harm the electoral process and even influence election results.
Reflecting on the issue, the Regional Electoral Court in Goiás (TR-GO)held a meeting with the Goiás press where Judge Vicente López warned that candidates who use social media inappropriately or offensively could be annulled.

The example given during the judge’s speech concerned the claim of the Supreme Electoral Court. (TSE) who revoked the mandate and stripped the deputy of the state elected by Parana in 2018, Fernando Francischini (União), for spreading false news about the e-voting system.
