He arrived at O’ahu on Monday and quickly posted many photos of himself on the beach on Instagram. He allegedly used public transportation to go to many of the places he drew, the statement said.
“The authorities know their social media posts from residents who see their posts – on the beach with surfboards, sunbathing and walking in Waikiki at night,” the statement said.
Information about the male lawyer was not immediately available.
Hawaii has reported 638 cases of corona virus and 17 deaths.
In an effort to stop the spread of the virus, the country requires tourists to the islands to quarantine themselves for 14 days, without leaving their hotel room or residence. They are required to fill out documents stating that violating quarantine is a crime punishable by a $ 5,000 fine and up to one year in prison, according to
state transportation department.The state has extended mandatory quarantine until the end of June, Governor David Ige said in an online question and answer session.
Many visitors, including newlyweds on their honeymoon, have been arrested for ignoring state quarantine orders.
“We, like most of the United States, still face the challenges of this pandemic,” Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell told CNN. “But now, we see traveling as carrying a virus, and we prefer people not to arrive until it is safe to travel again.”
