Miguel Ribeiro and Pedro Roxo are the two candidates for Académica President in the June 4 elections.

Both lists were delivered at the end of the day this Friday, after the expiration of the deadline stipulated by the notice of convening prepared by the Board of the General Assembly.

In the case of Miguel Ribeiro, who tops the C list and holds the title of “Académica com futuro”, this name is also well known in the academic world as he has been the General Manager of Training at Briosa since 2012. and 2016, when students were led by José Eduardo Simões.

In an interview with A BOLA, the 51-year-old lawyer explains the reasons for his candidacy. “We will try to restore Akademika, stabilizing it so that the club can regain its sporting success. In general, to return to the trail of its history. League 3 is not the place for Academics at all. We meet this challenge with the true spirit of the mission, so it’s academic with a future. This reality does not correspond to the academic dimension. And if you remember that today we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the victory in the Portuguese Cup, then the current situation is really very alarming. We want to create conditions for Académica to fill all its members and supporters with pride,” he said.

It should also be added that in this list, C Fernando Barata Alves is a candidate for the chairmanship of the Council of the General Assembly, António Preto is running for the Supervisory Board, and Luis Neves is ranked first in the Academic Council.

As for Pedro Roxo, this is the re-election of the incumbent president, who, we recall, has been in power since 2017. Now, and even after the club’s descent into League 3, the student leader does not leave the ship and presents a new perspective: the entry of a group of investors, presented at the end of this season, which promises to be the basis for a possible change in the corporate model from SDUQ to SAD, which logically requires the approval of shareholders in Assembly General convened for this purpose.

Pedro Roxo is represented on list D, which has the slogan “Académica com vida” and during his re-election A BOLA assumed what he intended to do in the new term, in case he becomes the winner of the suffrage. “We are responsible to Académica and its members for the protection of our project and the final restructuring of the club. We assume that the moment is not positive, but we are here to be part of the solution. The question of any change in the corporate model will always depend on the employees, and we will continue to inform partners about this project of ours,” he concluded.

From list D and as candidates for the remaining governing bodies, João Paulo Pinto Méndez is running for the Council of the General Assembly, Pedro Peão for the Supervisory Board, and Horacio Antunes is in first place on the Academic Council.
