Rodrigo Fernandez posted a farewell message on social media this Wednesday. The 20-year-old midfielder, who did pre-season training with Sporting’s main squad, was credited as Porto’s reinforcement on the latest transfer market closure list.
“Sporting, the farewell day has come, from the age of 8 at Polo EUL I began to take my first steps … 12 years in a house where I learned a lot, not only as a player, but also as a person. the main reason I became the man I am today. It is difficult to express in words my gratitude to this club, the club that welcomed me and gave me everything where I had the best moments of my life. Today I am leaving with a new challenge and thanks to this club I feel much more prepared. I would also like to thank all the coaches, managers, equipment technicians, medical department, academy staff, teammates and everyone who has been present in my personal and professional development. I experienced unique and memorable moments in my life when I signed my first professional contract and where I fulfilled my childhood dream of debuting as a professional player. It should be remembered that Rodrigo Fernandez ended almost his entire career at Sporting (except for the period at Real SC in 2015). His debut in the main squad took place in 2019, having played four matches. Diligently present in the minor set, played 24 matches last season for B.
