Slovenian Tadej Pogakar (Emirates of the United Arab Emirates) is one of the main stars of the world team, the current leader of the Tour de France and last year’s winner, but this Monday, a day of rest on the Tour, he said that he still intends to prove his quality to the world in order to demonstrate that the victory in 2020 was not an “accident” – he snatched a yellow card from compatriot Primoz Roglich on the eve of the end of the last edition in the individual time trial.

“One of my biggest motivations is to show that it wasn’t an accident based on a single time trial. This year I have the motivation to prove myself and prove to the whole world what I can do, ”he said, who is currently ahead of Ben O’Connor (Ag2r-Citröen) by 02.01 minutes and 05.18 over Colombian Rigoberto Uran (EF Education -Nippo), Roglich does not participate in competitions, and in the last two stages he showed an excellent demonstration of strength.

With regard to some suspicions regarding his actions, expressed, for example, by the newspaper L’Equipe, the Slovenian recalled the various anti-doping tests he was subjected to before and during the test. “We undergo various checks to silence suspicious ones. For example, on Sunday I was checked three times – twice before leaving and once after arriving in Tignes, ”he explained.
