A draw in Lima against Sporting Cristal was enough to guarantee second place (behind Flamengo Paulo Sousa) in Group H and confirm Talleres’ first presence under Pedro Caixinha in the Libertadores Round of 16.

“I am proud of the whole structure, the club, the fans and all the people of Córdoba, who are definitely celebrating. I am left feeling grateful that I have a wonderful group of players who work hard and want to keep growing. All this is the key to this success, and we are pleased that we have achieved this. Now we want more and we know that we have to work to continue to win new achievements, ”said the Portuguese coach after the meeting in Peru.

With qualifications already in his pocket, Talleres will close the group stage next Tuesday against Universidad Católica in Chile: “We want to get our first group stage win. It is our goal to play with the same intensity as we play at home and win.”

A day before the end of the group stage, Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras, Paulo Sousa’s Flamengo and Estudiantes, in addition to Talleres, have already reached the 1/8 finals.
