João Braz Frade, a former vice-president of the club and leader of the Benfica Boehm Mayor movement, announced this Monday his support for Rui Costa’s October 9 electoral law.
“After several conversations with Rui Costa and his candidacy, it became possible to achieve a broad programmatic understanding of what we want from the future club”, – can be read in the statement of João Braz Frade, which highlights three “big problems”. for the short term future of Benfica:
– Make the transition from a centralized presidency and something closed on itself, especially in the final phase, which was led by the club for about 20 years, to a leadership that members want more involved, transparent and dialogical. This implies a radical change in processes, methods and approaches, which takes time, courage, resilience and the drive to achieve more;
– Participate in and manage legacy legal proceedings that affect the club and the SAD in such a way as to have the least possible impact on the day-to-day activities and reputation of the club;
– Recover financially from the effects of the pandemic and adapt the club to the challenges posed by the new international competition system and the centralization of television rights.
