The two pilots, who were trying to return to Honolulu when they learned of a mechanical problem in the plane, were forced to take a break in the Pacific. Both were rescued by the Coast Guard, the FAA added.

According to the Associated Press, the US Coast Guard received a ditch warning by deploying a helicopter, which found debris and two people in the water. Both were healthy, one of them was taken to a local hospital.

At the moment, the wreckage of the aircraft remains at sea, and the coast guard will assess the level of pollution.

According to the Flightradar24 website, this aircraft was built in 1975, which is not surprising since cargo aircraft are usually old commercial aircraft converted after years of use to transport people.

It should be noted that this is not the 737 MAX, a model that ran into serious problems and was stopped for 20 months due to two accidents that resulted in 346 deaths in six months.

This type of device was damaged in a crash on an Ethiopian Airlines flight in March 2019, resulting in 157 deaths, while another crash killed 189 during a Lion Air flight to Indonesia in October 2018.

Commercial flights of the Boeing 737 MAX resumed in December 2020, first in Brazil, and then in the United States and Canada.

The Belgian airline TUI Fly made its first commercial flight to Europe on February 17.

As for the 777 model, Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) also announced the stops of 13 and 19 aircraft of this type, respectively.

According to several North American media reports, the only airlines using the 777 are in the United States, Japan and South Korea.
