Abrasco and Change Submit a Petition to Strengthen SUS in Political Directories
Last week, a partnership between Abrasco and Change took a petition calling for a stronger SUS to the headquarters of several political departments in Sao Paulo. The action, promoted by the petition platform Change.org, also sent five more petitions, which have collected more than 3.6 million signatures, to agree on candidate parties that will run in the next elections in October.
With nearly 80,000 signatures, Abrasco’s petition proposes to strengthen the SUS and put health issues at the center of the political debate in this election. This is part of Abrasco’s “Strengthen SUS” campaign and a call to mobilize those who believe our healthcare system deserves more investment.
For Abrasco President Rosana Onotsko, the campaign to strengthen the Unified Health System (SUS) presents the actions that the Association is taking through the Frente Pela Vida to a wider audience that may not be as close to the Health Policy debate, but who are users and are knowledgeable about difficulties and strengths of SUS. “The fact that the campaign has collected more than 78,000 signatures shows the importance of the lives of the population and the need to continue mobilizing to restart investment and qualify our system,” he says.
During the caravan days, citizens and representatives of the organizations responsible for selected petitions visited directories of at least nine parties: PT, PKDOB, SDDP, PSOL, SDDB, PV, MDB, PSB and PSD. The next stage of the action will be the delivery of the Abrasco petition to presidential candidates.
