Sufficiently removes references to Republic IV from the political program and rejects “extremist connotations.”
Chega is meeting this Friday at the National Council to discuss and approve a new political agenda. The document contains fewer specific proposals and does not take into account a number of controversial issues, since the party wants to free itself “from the extremist connotation.”
The differences start immediately in size, only 25 pages, which is less than half of the current size. The document that the TSF had access to no longer mentions controversial issues such as the creation of the IV Republic. The “deep revision of the Constitution”, which the party has always advocated, seems to be numbered as well, at least in the political program.
André Ventura explains that the purpose of the new document is to unite the party with very different fighters, “such as Catholics, communists in the south of the country and people from the large suburban mass.”

“This is a party that was largely built on ideological diversity. It is necessary to create cement around this so that we have a common project for Portugal. We cannot live by punctual measures alone. The country must know the program and the way of thinking, ”he notes.

“Big mistake. The idea of outlawing Chega is a stupid and irrational idea. “
The document proposes a reform in education in order to restore “the authority of the teacher and fight indiscipline in the school environment.”
“We advocate a deeply renewed institutional learning model based on strengthening the dignity and credibility of educators and teachers, combating the school’s indiscipline, which is the most pressing challenge for any reform in this sector,” the document says.
Chega is right-wing, conservative, reformist, liberal and nationalist, but “rejects extremist connotations.”
“We have measures of some radicalism, this is obvious, but since these are radical reforms, which, as we understand, need to be carried out, both in the fight against corruption, in justice and reforming the political system. Political extremism is another matter, in which it implies violence or abuse of political discourse, ”explains André Ventura to TSF.
LGBT Agenda in Schools? Ventura no longer talks about prohibition
In 2019, Chega defended a ban on the inclusion of LGBT people in the education system, but now the subject is no longer mentioned. Even so, the party continues to refer to the intimate relationship between a woman and a man as the natural family, because “life and a range of emotional, emotional and behavioral equilibria, as well as knowledge, traditions and heritage that sustain dignity and prosperity, are transmitted. individuals and peoples. “
The party also advocated “an immediate end to government support for abortion and gender reassignment,” but now not a word about this.
On the other hand, they continue to ask to restrict the granting of Portuguese citizenship to foreigners in order to preserve their identity. Children of illegal immigrants, even if they were born in national territory, should also not be eligible for a Portuguese citizen card.

Differences in voting on Chega’s proposals. Dozens of delegates’ proposals never saw the light of day
“Chega is committed to protecting, promoting dignity and renewing Portuguese citizenship against the risk of misrepresentation by current and future generations. The granting of Portuguese citizenship to foreigners should be limited, ”they write.
It was expected that the new political program will be presented at the congress, which was held at the end of May. A month later, the party finally presents the document to the militants.
The 7th National Council of Chegi is scheduled for July 2 and 3 in Sagres, and the agenda includes, in addition to presenting, discussing and voting on the party’s program, the approval of election and discipline regulations.

The dollar continues to reflect the political scenario
Yesterday, financial agents evaluated the opposite decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) regarding the so-called secret budget. In addition, a decision was made by STF Minister Gilmar Méndez to issue an injunction that would exclude the Bolsa Família from the spending cap rule, with investors trying to understand how this measure would affect the processing of the transitional PEC in the Chamber of Deputies. Oh this PEC!!!!
Since he is an exchange investor, any reading that the budget will be exceeded or become more flexible will negatively affect the exchange market, whether through the PEC or in any other way. We will continue with volatility today.
Looking beyond, the US Central Bank (Fed), although slowing down the pace of monetary tightening at its December meeting, issued a tougher-than-expected statement warning that its fight against inflation was not yet over, raising fears that rising US interest rates will push the world’s largest economy into recession.
The currency market continues to react to political news. The voting on the PEC is saved for today. It is expected that it will indeed be reviewed to open the way tomorrow for discussions on the 2023 budget.
For today on the calendar we will have an index of consumer confidence in the eurozone. Good luck and good luck in business!!

The EU has reached a political agreement on limiting gas prices – 19.12.2022
The agreement was approved by a supermajority at a ministerial meeting of member states in Brussels, Belgium, after months of discussions about the best way to contain the rise in natural gas prices in the bloc caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. .
The value set by the countries is well below the proposal made by the European Commission, the EU’s executive body, in November: 275 EUR/MWh. However, the countries leading the cap campaign were in favor of an even lower limit, around 100 EUR/MWh.
Germany, always wary of price controls, voted in favor of 180 euros, while Austria and the Netherlands, also skeptical of the cap, abstained. Hungary, the most pro-Russian country in the EU, voted against.
The instrument will enter into force on 15 February, but only if natural gas prices on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange exceed 180 euros/MWh for three consecutive days. In addition, the difference compared to a number of global benchmarks should be more than 35 euros.
Italy, the EU’s biggest supporter of the ceiling, has claimed responsibility for the measure. “This is a victory for Italy, which believed and worked for us to reach this agreement,” Environment and Energy Minister Gilberto Picetto tweeted.
“This is a victory for Italian and European citizens who demand energy security,” he added.
Currently, the gas price in Amsterdam is around 110 EUR/MWh, which is already a reflection of the agreement in Brussels – in August the figure even broke the barrier of 340 EUR/MWh.
However, Russia has already threatened to stop exports to countries that adhere to the ceiling. (ANSA).
