Porsche does a lot of things well, but there is one area where the company excels best: special and anniversary versions of cars. Ladies and gentlemen, grab onto the company’s latest offering, the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition. The name might sound appetizing, but the only words you need to know are the last two words: America Edition.

That’s right, this is our shiny version of the 992 generation Porsche 911. Designed to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the American Porsche 356 roadster that debuted in 1952, and therefore the 30th anniversary of the 964 American roadster, which was built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original car 356.

The America Edition comes in only one color: Azure Blue 356, which is an upgraded version of the original blue of the first 356 Americas. Porsche says it wants US buyers to continue to see new aspects of design because they own the car and love it. Interestingly, the Limited Edition does not have a numbered badge to indicate where your copy is located. However, the word “America” ​​is written on the center console in traditional Porsche letters.

The door sills also feature 1952, 1992 and 2022 painted to commemorate 70 years of American roadsters. The ignition lock matches the color of the car body.

Essentially, the America Edition is a 911 Carrera GTS convertible with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine producing 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, just like the non-US version.

That power is sent through a mandatory seven-speed manual transmission. You read that right: you can’t get the US version with the PDK automatic dual clutch. Porsche says the decision was made based on the enthusiasm of American 911 buyers in favor of a manual transmission.
