Porto defeated Boavista and remained in the Portuguese vice-leader

With a goal from Lucas Verissimo, Benfica makes his Portuguese league debut, defeating Moreirense.

Porto visited Boavista this Saturday at the Bessa Seculo XXI Stadium on Matchday 13 of the Liga Liga and secured a 4-1 victory in the Invicta Derby thanks to goals from Ivan Marcano, Eustaquio and Galeno (2) to stay in the runners-up competition. Gorre made a default discount for home owners.

As a result, Porto scored 29 points, reducing the distance to the leading Benfica to five goals. However, the Encarnados take the field this Sunday against Gil Vicente at the Estádio do Dragao and could once again increase their lead at the top of the table.

Porto opened the scoring in the last part of the first half, more precisely in the 41st minute. After a corner, Evanilson saved it with a header, and Ivan Marcano hit with a second stick, blowing up the net.

After scoring this Saturday, Ivan Marcano scored 25 goals in Porto’s shirt, equaling Jorge Costa and José Carlos as the highest scoring defenders in the club’s history.

In the second half, Boavista’s situation became even more complicated in the 13th minute, when Reggie Cannon committed a hard foul, received a second yellow card and was sent off from the match, leaving the hosts in the minority.

With one more player on the field, Porto did not have to wait long to increase the score. In the 19th minute, Otavio made a pass over the dais to Taremi, who took aim for Eustaquio to hit first and well, which made the match even more comfortable for the visitors.

Unsatisfied, Porto nevertheless scored a third goal in the final stretch of the confrontation with Galeno, who received a pass from Otavio and kept it one-on-one with goalkeeper Bracalli.

Before the final whistle, Boavista nevertheless calculated a low kick from Gorre’s free kick. But Porto did not become cheaper and even reached the fourth goal, again with Galeno, touching the goalkeeper’s exit, turning an elastic victory into a rout.

Aroca x Rio Avenue

Earlier, Aroca and Rio Ave took the field at the Estádio Municipal de Arouca, in a duel between two teams in the middle of the table, and the visitors won 1-0 thanks to Aziz’s goal in the 14th minute of the second half.

As a result, Rio Ave finished ninth with 18 points, gluing Aroca from eighth with 19 goals.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
