A BOLA - study highlights Diogo Costa, Joao Victor, Enzo Fernandez, Pedro Gonçalves and Evanilson (League)

The latest CIES study – Observatorio do Futebol highlights the top 10 players under the age of 25 for a wide variety of activities/functions on the pitch (technical profiles). The study covers 59 leagues around the world, but mostly Europe, and is based on performance over the last 365 days, regardless of whether the players changed clubs during that period.

There are currently four players on the roster who work in Portugal, though one of them hasn’t even made his debut yet. We are talking about Joao Victor, a central defender hired from Corinthians, who is still recovering from injury. The defender is ranked 8th in net blockers, led by Eder Militão, a former Porto player who plays for Real Madrid.

Diogo Costa is 3rd in terms of goalkeeping behind Ramsdale (1st, Arsenal) and Kobel (2nd, Dortmund), while Luis Maximiano (Lazio) is 7th.

It is in the profile of “defensive shooters” that Enzo Fernandez appears in 2nd place, behind only Federico Valverde from Real Madrid.

Sporting’s Pedro Gonçalves is 10th and last in the ‘shooter maker’, Joao Félix (Atletico Madrid) is 5th and Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) is ahead.

Finally, in Target Shooter, Porto’s Evanilson’s name is also in 10th place. Darwin Nunez, who traded Benfica to Liverpool in the last off-season, is in 5th place, while Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is in 1st.

As for the “playmaker-filterer”, the first place is taken by Vitinha, who moved from Porto to PSG this summer. Also at the top, but in the infiltrator category, is Rafael Leao (Milan), ahead of a certain Kylian Mbappe (PSG).
