BALL - Rui Costa regrets the death of his number one partner: "This is a sad day for Benfica" (Benfica)

Rui Costa reacted via a social media statement to the death of Emilio Andrade Júnior, the number one partner of the Eagles. Ti Emilio, as he was known, died on Tuesday at the age of 101, and before the Pacos de Ferreira he will be honored with a minute of silence before the start of the match.

“Today is a sad day for Sport Lisbon and Benfica with the departure of our number 1 partner Emilio Andrade Junior. He has always been an example of great selflessness and devotion to the Glorious. Beloved by all, with great sympathy, a huge heart. I had the honor of witnessing all this passion of our T Emilio, how affectionately he was treated by his friends and everyone who liked him. Always available to the club, he was a source of inspiration and example for our athletes and for all Benfica fans, never forgetting his brotherly relationship with the great Eusébio. On behalf of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, I express my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

The funeral is scheduled for September 1, and the commemoration will take place at 9:30 am in the church of Nossa Señora de Fatima on Avenida de Berna. Mass will be held at 12 noon, followed by a procession to the Cemitério de Caneças, where Emilio Andrade Junior will be buried in the family vault.

BALL - Suarez scratches Europe out of his future (Uruguay)

Now Luis Suarez, representing Nacional de Montevideo, rules out the possibility of playing in Europe again. At the age of 35, he is gearing up to play in a fourth World Cup – and face Portugal in the group stage – but he knows that after leaving Atlético Madrid, the future will no longer run through Europe.

In an interview with a Spanish newspaper Brand, the striker recalled that he lived his peak at Barcelona, where he was part of the famous MSN trio (Messi, Suarez and Neymar) and won nine titles in three seasons, including two leagues, the Champions League and the Club World Cup. . He scored 121 goals in 147 games, so self-esteem can only be good: “I give myself 12 because of the expectations with which I arrived, which were not so many, because there were Leo and Neymar. They said that three roosters in a chicken coop cannot live together, but we showed that we can. I am proud of my career, I lived up to expectations. After that, the level went down, but even so, I always exceeded 25 goals in a season. And I give myself 10 points for Atlético.

After two years at Atletico, he returned to his country in August and signed with his youth club Nacional. President José Fuentes has already said that Suarez will leave the club when his contract expires, at the end of the year, and there is talk of MLS, but Suarez left only one guarantee for his future:

“It’s not known yet. It’s one of the options that I see very close, but I don’t think about it now. I like the National. I’ve already made my European career and left very proud. I had many options before returning to ” Nacional, but looking at this: Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barça, Atlético… what could be better than this career in Europe? That’s why I couldn’t be worse after Atlético team. It was the perfect trajectory. So it made sense to go back to Uruguay, not because it’s a minor league, but to complete the circle.”

BALL - Crown Jewel agrees to go to Munich (Bayer Leverkusen)

According to preliminary news, this Friday the German newspaper BuildBayern Munich officials secretly met with Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Florian Wirtz to convince the player to move to Bayern, and the response from the young star was positive.

The 19-year-old striker, currently recovering from injury, was one of Bayer Leverkusen’s best players last season, drawing interest from some of the richest and most powerful sharks Europeans, but Bayer Leverkusen demanded 100 million euros for Wirtz’s trade, an amount that eased the player’s pursuit.

However, the current moment of Bayer Leverkusen, a club that has refused to sell its stars to Bayern Munich in recent years in an effort to thwart the ten-time champions, used to have some of the best players in the Bundesliga and historically the backbone of the German national team in its ranks – is becoming even stronger, as this was seen, for example, with Kai Havertz, who, despite a very strong Bavarian desire, going to Chelsea could change the scenario that existed at the end of last season.

Recall that this Friday, the next opponent of Porto in the Champions League was defeated by four unanswered goals away from Bayern Munich and is still in the penultimate and 16th places (the playoffs remain in the Bundesliga), but can still finish the eighth round in the penultimate place, if this Saturday Wolfsburg wins or draws in the reception with Stuttgart with the same five points.
