Portuguese Wine Festival and Rocha Pera National Fair in Bombarral August 10-15 : Gazeta Rural



Already on August 10, Wednesday, the 37th Portuguese Wine Festival and the 27th Pera Rocha National Fair begin. The event, which promotes the two main sectors of the economy of the municipality of Bombarral, will run until 15 August in the municipality of Mata.

Thanks to the unique natural environment, visitors will once again have the opportunity to taste some of the best wines produced in the different wine regions of the country and enjoy a wide variety of delicacies prepared on the basis of the queen of Portuguese horticulture.

The event also includes a varied gastronomic offer, which is provided to us in the official restaurant of the event, as well as in taverns provided by various associations in the municipality and in other places dedicated to this component.

On the gastronomic side, it is also worth mentioning Espaço Gourmet, where several chefs will prepare live dishes every day, promoting the connection between wine and the Rocha pear.

Another highlight will be the entertainment program including concerts by the Banda Xeques Orquestra (10), David Antunes (11), Plutónio (12), André Sarde (13), Ana Bacalhau (14) and Os Azeitonas (15) in addition to the Wine Party and Pear Party (13), which is not to be missed, and a performance by several traditional bands.

In this context, reference is also made to “Espaço Pera”, where visitors will be able to experience the sector dedicated to the production of the queen of Portuguese fruits, and where the “Palco Melro” will be installed, through which they will also spend various moments of entertainment.

Since the Portuguese Wine Festival and Feira Nacional da Pera Rocha is an event that can be enjoyed by the whole family, the little ones will also have a place dedicated exclusively to them, where they can enjoy various fun activities, games, face painting. , among many others. .

The Portuguese Wine Festival is the oldest wine event in the country, created in the 60s under the name of the 1st Portuguese Wine Festival-Exhibition. Held inconsistently for several years, only since 1993, when the 10th edition was held, the event was finally established, and from that day on it was held annually.

As for the Feira Nacional da Pera Rocha, it has been organized since 1996 with the aim of promoting the queen of Portuguese horticulture, as well as fresh agricultural products in general.

Method Media Bermuda will present the documentary FABRIC: Portuguese History in Bermuda on Thursday, December 29 at the Underwater Research Institute of Bermuda.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.
