Portuguese Institute Organizes Summer School on Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence

How can we build more robust and knowledgeable AI models to ensure data is preserved and kept private? This is the motto of the 2022 VISion Understanding and Machine Intelligence (VISUM) Summer School organized by the Institute of Systems and Computing, Technology and Science (INESK CHP).

Within a week, according to a press release, researchers, students, engineers and scientists from around the world will have access to a training program, mentor sessions and netand will also be able to take part in the artificial intelligence competition.

Machine learningcomputer vision, privacy and ethics in the field of artificial intelligence will be the main topics of debate at the 10th VISUM.. “This year, we’ll be talking about privacy and data persistence in AI models as we increasingly have proposals for process automation. Technological advances are important, many of them driven by artificial intelligence that works with large amounts of data. However, we must be aware of its impact and, as researchers and creators of these models, we must rely on more understandable and secure algorithms, ”says Ana Rebelo, researcher at INESC TEC, in a note.

Participants will be able to put their knowledge into practice and build their own artificial intelligence model by submitting an answer to a real problem as part of the competition.. The challenge will include creating “an algorithm that intelligently and automatically helps the supply chain of the Brazilian technology company Loggi,” explained Thiago Gonçalves, researcher at INESC TEC, adding that the winning team will receive a €2,250 prize. .

VISUM also stands out for its initiatives to netnamely holding sessions facilitated by industry representatives, where participants have the opportunity to participate in debates and expand the network of contacts.
