Pierre Vitor Pereira: humor brought the French-Portuguese actor closer to the Portuguese community in France - Showbiz

“The most important thing for me is that it brought me closer to the Portuguese community. I never separated myself, but I also never integrated into the community. I joined the troupe,” said Pierre Vitor Pereira in an interview with the Lusa agency.

Pierre Vitor Pereira is the son of a Portuguese father who grew up on the outskirts of Paris. After studying theater at the Lyceum, PV turned to improvisation, and in 2018 he started doing stand-up, touring clubs in Paris, until he was invited to join the first edition of the Portugal Comedy Club, which for the last four months at the Jamel Comedy Club, the oldest stand-up club in France capital Cities.

“I always wanted to do something related to Portugal, but I never wanted to be called only Portuguese here in France. with humor in French, with a career in France, but with deep respect for Morocco. I want to be recognized as a French-Portuguese artist,” he explained.

Recognition has already come from Jamel Debbouz himself, one of France’s greatest comedians and owner of the Jamel Comedy Club, who asked PV to join his comedy club’s permanent troupe. This award makes him one of the most recognized humor artists in the Gallic lands.

“The comedy club Zhamel is a real institution, it has existed for many years. But joining a troupe is not an instant success. I just arrived, but I think I’m asserting myself. Being at this club makes a lot of sense,” he said.

In his performances in clubs, as well as in the performances he gives alone in Parisian theaters, Pierre Vitor Pereira talks about his family life, the daily life of a young Frenchman from the city and his origins with such humor, how his father arrived in France “in aged 18, in the back of a truck, with a broken leg.”

“I write a lot about Portugal, it’s very nice to talk about my origins and this vision of a Portuguese born in France. In France, there were many ideas to make society laugh using a Portuguese accent. , so it was a long time ago. And it’s something easy, I understand. I want to make people laugh by talking about Portugal and not talking about clichés,” he stressed.

The next step for Pier Vitor Pereira is to learn how to speak Portuguese. Despite spending a summer in Viana do Castelo, this Franco-Portuguese never mastered the language. He suggested that this would be an important step in order to perform stand-up in Portugal as well.

“If one day I learn Portuguese, why not work in Portugal,” he left open.

The artist will continue to present his show “Presque vrai”, co-written with Camille Masklef, until the end of the year at the Petite Loge theater and will perform at several Parisian comedy clubs, including the Jamel Comedy Club.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
