Portugal: Mais de metade das casas têm contadores inteligentes ligados

The smart grid functionality via the smart meter allows measurements to be taken from a distance (without the involvement of network operator employees or the customer), as well as other remote operations, such as changing contractual capacity.

According to the latest data, more than half of the homes have smart meters connected. Do you already have yours?

A smart meter is an intelligent energy management device integrated into the technological infrastructure, which, in addition to measuring electricity consumption, allows data processing and availability and support for the provision of services through remote communication.

Smart meters: main functions

With the help of smart grids, electricity consumers will be able to use services such as:

  • Automatic readings: it is no longer necessary to collect or issue readings, as they go to the electricity distributor automatically, sent by the meter itself
  • Accounts without ratings: with automatic reporting of readings, you are no longer billed based on grades. You will only pay for what you consumed during the billing period
  • Remote operations: it also enables remote network operations, eliminating the need for a technician to physically relocate whenever you want to change capacity or rate.
  • More efficient troubleshooting: Allows you to more effectively troubleshoot and resolve technical issues remotely
  • More control over your consumption: captures information about electricity consumption for short periods. Thus, if you allow the processing of your consumption data, you may be provided with detailed information about your profile to help you make better decisions, such as what time is the busiest and what is the best rate for a given type consumption. does.

Portugal: More than half of homes are connected to smart meters

Under the new legislation, by the end of 2024, E-Redes must provide 100% customer coverage. 2.9 million smart meters are missing. Until now, about 4.3 million smart meters have already been installed in mainland Portugal. Of that total, “3.4 million smart meters are already under remote control,” E-Redes said.

The new Electrical System Basic Law was approved earlier this year and, as the Minister of Energy explained at the time, the diploma was for "a system that is much more flexible, dynamic and fully integrated with the goals of decarbonization."

The first Dacia hybrid. "The cheapest hybrid family on the market"

BUT Dacia revealed this Monday that the hybrid engine has been available since March on the Jogger, the Romanian brand’s model known to be available with a seven-seat variant.

The Jogger Hybrid 140, Dacia’s first hybrid, will hit dealerships in March, but customers can expect and order it as early as January.

The price has been revealed by Dacia and since it’s only available in the seven-seater SL Extreme, it starts at €28,800. The brand claims it is “the most affordable hybrid family car on the market.”

Available in six existing colors to celebrate the launch of this hybrid, there will be a slate gray version, as you can see in the images above.

Equipped with a 1.6 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 90 hp, the Jogger is also powered by two electric motors (a 50 hp engine and a high-voltage starter-generator). The total power is 140 horsepower. The electric transmission is automatic, four-speed, connected to an internal combustion engine, and two speeds are connected to an electric motor. This combined technology was possible, according to Dacia, only due to the lack of clutch.

Combined with the energy recovery levels of the 1.2kWh (230V) battery pack and the efficiency of the automatic transmission, regenerative braking delivers all-electric traction on 80% of urban journeys and saves up to 40% of fuel compared to a combustion engine vehicle.
