Oceântia: Novo autocarro português 100% elétrico é alternativa verde para os transportes coletivos

BUT OceaniaPortuguese start-up for the production of electric buses, is seeking funding through GoParity.

Established in 2020 by Portuguese engineers to actively fight the effects of climate change, Oceantia has developed a new fully electric bus with high autonomy specifically designed to offer a sustainable alternative to the public and school transport currently in use. with internal combustion engine vehicles by most Portuguese municipalities.

“We wanted to join GoParity as a green project focused on new technologies in the field of environmental protection. It is also important that we are a team of pragmatic people open to new solutions. We believe that this new form of financing and relationship is much easier and faster, which brings huge benefits both for promoters like us and for investors,” says Walter Duarte, Managing Partner of Oceântia.

Electric models are a good alternative to the traditional diesel buses that make up the public and school transport fleets of municipalities and private operators. By replacing each internal combustion bus with an electric one, up to 1000 tons of CO2 could be saved, which will be emitted into the atmosphere during the entire life of the car, and up to 69 tons per year, which is equivalent to the absorption capacity of 3165 mature trees.

Given the success of these new electric buses, Oceantia has already received several orders from Portuguese municipalities and campaign a collaborative on GoParity, in which anyone can invest from 5 euros, in this case a contract for one year and a return of 5% of your initial investment. The goal is to raise 225 thousand euros. This is the promoter’s second campaign after raising €115,000 through the platform to produce the first CO2-neutral bus, which has already been sold to a Portuguese municipality and is currently undergoing European certification tests.

The funds raised through this campaign are intended to finance the production of a second 100% electric BLUECITY bus, which has already been ordered by another Portuguese municipality and will be delivered in the third quarter of this year.

“This is a great opportunity for us to move towards sustainable urban mobility and reduce or even eliminate the impact that internal combustion engines have on public transport by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This project is an integral part of a broader strategy for sustainable transport systems, which GoParity has now joined with the launch of this campaign,” adds Nuno Brito Jorge, CEO of GoParity.

The first models are already in production and are expected to be delivered to the Portuguese market in the second half of 2022, with launches in Spain and other European countries in 2023. Oceântia plans to hire 11 people in the planning, construction and sales teams. .

This project is being implemented at a time of increased demand associated with the availability of community funding, as part of Recovery and Resilience Programto support municipalities and private operators in upgrading their bus fleets and switching to electric solutions. In Portugal, this figure exceeds 100 million euros of investments for the purchase of electric buses in the next three years. Similar programs are being implemented in Spain and other European countries.

Maestro de Braga is the first Portuguese in the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba.

Maestro Filipe Cunha, Artistic Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Braga, has been invited to conduct the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra, as announced today.

According to a statement sent by O MINHO, “he will be the first Portuguese conductor to conduct this orchestra in its entire history.”

In addition to this orchestra, the maestro will also work with the Lyceo Mozarteum de la Habana Symphony Orchestra.

The concerts will take place on 4 and 12 March 2023 at the National Theater of Cuba in Havana.

In the words of the maestro, quoted in the statement, “these will be very beautiful concerts with difficult but very complex pieces” and therefore he feels “very motivated”.

From the very beginning, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by an Italian pianist (Luigi Borzillo), whom the maestro wants to bring to Portugal later this year. In the same concert, Mendelshon’s First Symphony will be performed.

Then, at the second concert, in the company of the Mexican clarinetist Angel Zedillo, he will perform the Louis Sfora Concerto No. 2. In this concert, the maestro also conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.

“This is an international recognition of my work. An invitation that I accept with humility and great responsibility. I was surprised to learn that I would be the first Portuguese member of the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra. This is a very great honor,” the maestro said in a statement.

“I take with me the name of the city of Braga and Portugal with all the responsibility that goes with it, and I hope to do a good job there, leaving a good image and putting on great concerts. These will be very special concerts because, in addition to performing pieces that I love, especially Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky, I will be directing two wonderful soloists who are also my friends. It will be very beautiful,” concludes Filipe Cunha.
