Faced with increasing violence in their territories, in a constant struggle against the time frame and anti-indigenous policies of the current government, indigenous leaders present in the federal capital this week – from June 20 to 23 – will issue a press release. and the community on Thursday 23. The speech will take place during the Political Act with sacred rituals, in Tres Poderes Square, in front of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), at 14:30 (Brazil time). A press conference will also be held there, followed by the release of the documentary film “Struggle for the Earth”.

O political act will consist of Terena, Caingan, Tuxa, Xoleng, Tupinamba, Carapo, Guarani Nhandeva, Guarani Kiowa, Takaiwra, Sinta Larga, Caripuna, Tukano, Makuksi, Wapichana, Taurepang, Mura and Marubo indigenous peoples, which were held throughout this week a series of meetings and hearings: with parliamentarians in the National Congress; in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC); in the National Council of Justice (CNJ); in the Federal Supreme Court; at the National Indian Foundation (Funai); in addition to participating in the “Seminar on the Constitutional Regime of Indigenous Lands in Brazil” at the University of Brasilia (UN), which was attended by indigenous representatives, partners, academics and lawyers.

BUT press conference it will include representatives from the Association of the Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (Apib) and regional grassroots organizations. After the announcement launch of the documentary film “Fight for the Earth”. Created by young Indigenous Communicators, the work brings together images and feelings in one of the most important moments of the Indigenous struggle against the time frame and the decision of Emergency Appeal 1,017,365 regarding the demarcation of Indigenous lands in the country. In an effort to support their voices in defense of their lives and territories, indigenous communicators and producer Sal Films will take part in this moment.

This Thursday, June 23, actions against the time frame will be held throughout the country: in Brazil, in the territories and on social networks. Earlier this month, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) withdrew from decision of the Extraordinary Court of Appeal (RE) 1 017 365, this will determine the future of the demarcation of indigenous land across the country. The court was supposed to enter the agenda this Thursday, June 23, but the vote was postponed for the third time.

Thus, the temporal thesis suggests limiting the demarcation of indigenous lands to only those territories proven to be in indigenous possession on October 5, 1988, the date of the promulgation of the Constitution. The Indigenous Thesis, on the other hand, recognizes the rights of Indigenous Peoples as emerging, that is, prior to the state itself. It is important for the Indigenous Movement that the STF reject the deadlines as soon as possible, as this proposal is an incentive for traffickers, miners, loggers and land grabbers.

Our struggle for our territories, for our lives, without our territories, our lives will be in danger, as well as the lives of all creatures that live on this planet. The Brazilian Constitution guarantees the rights to our territories, and only the proposal of a time frame already violates this Constitutional and Inheritance Law. We cannot accept the violation of our rights, we cannot accept the fact that our lives continue to be taken. That is why we also ask for justice for Bruno and Dom, our fight for our rights, for our lives, for those who came before us and for those who are yet to come.

China’s top political adviser calls for more proposals to cut carbon emissions – Xinhua English.news.cn

(Xinhua/Liu Weibing)

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) — China’s chief political adviser Wang Yang on Tuesday called for a redoubled effort to gather thoughts and make proposals to help the country achieve maximum carbon neutrality.

Wang, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP), chairman of the National Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of China, delivered a speech at a scientific consultation seminar in Beijing.

At the meeting, representatives of non-CPC political parties shared their views and suggestions on what can be done in various areas to stimulate environmental transformation, such as further developing new and clean energy, expanding the carbon trading market, and boosting low-carbon research. technologies. technology. They discussed ideas with officials from key government departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission.

Noting that achieving China’s carbon reduction goals requires synergy of wisdom and strength on multiple fronts, Wang pointed out that relevant political parties and social organizations should continue to conduct in-depth research and make proposals on key issues to achieve the goals, as well as strive to lead by example through green lifestyle with low carbon emissions.

The relevant authorities and departments should make the most of the results of this survey and improve the quality of consultations with non-CCP political parties, Wang said.

China has announced that it will aim to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Untie the Gordian knot

Untie the Gordian knot

The past few days have been politically fruitful for discussions about regime agreements, agreements and consensus. All this is relative to the location of the new Lisbon airport. No one doubts the strategic importance of this decision and the commitments that come with it, given the importance of the investment in question. In fact, the new Lisbon airport goes far beyond a simple decision about its geographic location, taking into account external factors arising from social, economic and strategic areas. There is talk of a global investment of more than 6 billion euros, the implementation of which will take more than ten years. As for the importance of consensus, there will certainly not be many dissenters in this decision. It is therefore unfortunate that on an issue of much greater importance to all Portuguese, as in the case of the National Health Service (SNS), this momentum for a broad political consensus is also not being given. On the contrary, we have long seen the use of social networks as a tool of political struggle. As if social networks, by definition, are not the best guide for democracy, where a sense of social justice, protection of the rights of every citizen, every person is expressed and implemented with greater obviousness.

The future of social media inevitably involves understanding current reality, current circumstances, and making commitments that anticipate the future.

The profoundly unhelpful tendency to turn health issues, and social media in particular, into a privileged platform for partisan political struggle, segmentation of positions, and rejection of broad consensus has only made their urgent reform and transformation more difficult. This blockade results in losses for the Portuguese and can only be resolved in a lasting and consistent manner if a strategic approach is possible that leads to a medium and long term social contract. Sparse, inconsistent and incoherent legislative proceedings will only contribute to the fact that it will be practically impossible to unravel the entropy and tangle of contradictions. Social media sustainability will only be achieved if public policy is supported by broad consensus in the medium to long term. The risks associated with demographic evolution, the growing burden of chronic diseases, the progressive dependence of health on social spheres, and the vulnerability associated with the rising costs of therapeutic and technological innovations require solutions that have a horizon of stability ahead. , policy coherence and stability.

If we just stay on slogans momentary, meaningless rhetoric, false struggle that feeds the daily quarrel, we do not benefit the people. The National Health Service is the greatest “public cause” in the history of democracy, the results and consequences of which will never cease, let alone a decade. Thus, the SNS deserves no less attention than the new Lisbon airport, in the apparent ongoing search for a broad political consensus. But the consensus, which is a democratic reflection of the will of the vast majority of citizens and is not conditioned by any pressure. The future of social media inevitably involves understanding current reality, current circumstances, and making commitments that anticipate the future. This will not be possible with ideas, projects or partners that have long lost the ability to understand the world in the gaps of history. Persistence in this path will only mean postponing the inevitable, making it almost impossible to untie this Gordian knot.

Demonstration of mayors against the reduction in the collection and processing of liquid waste

Fabiana Pulcinelli arrives analyzing the demonstration of the mayors in Brasilia (DF) against the agendas that make it difficult for the municipalities to collect. More than 100 mayors of Goiás cities are expected to support the manifesto. The agenda that was recently adopted by Gov. Ronaldo Cayado was a 17% ICMS cap on diesel, gasoline, electricity, communications and public transport, and he said mayors should accept it, but they complain about the impact on budgets. However, she also talks about the Legislative Assembly’s consideration of the Fundamental Budgetary Principles Act, BDO 2023. The document indicates that the total revenue forecast in 2023 will be more than 37 billion Brazilian reais. The value is higher than the overall revenue forecast for 2022, which was 31 billion reais.
